Nils Oscar Harvest Ale 500ml, 5.5% - Sweden

Pours deep copper/reddish with a little head.

Hops up front. Nice aroma full of bread, malts, caramel and resin.

Malty and bready flavor. Hoppy with caramel. Bitter finish.

Summer Sun 500ml, 4% - Scotland

Poured crystal clear copper color with a fine white head.

Floral hops, bread and malty aroma.

Hops, grass, sweet malty flavor. Mild bitterness.

Trashy Blonde 330ml, 4.1% - Scotland

Pale golden appearance with a huge creamy head.

Floral hops, biscuit and citrus in the aroma.

Fresh hoppy flavor. Citrus with grapefruit. Slightly piny with a gentle malty touch.

Why didn't they kick it up a notch?

Ocean EKO Pale Ale 500ml, 4.5% - Sweden

Poured red color with no head.

Malty and bready aroma.

Malty flavor, little sweetness..

I don't even know why I bothered buying this..!

Organic Honeydew 500ml, 5% - England

Light amber color with a small fizzy head.

Malty smell, slightly sweet (most probably the honey).

Not what I would call an appealing taste. Starts off with citrus and followed by honey, malts and a tad of caramel. Light bitterness in the aftertaste.

Pass!

Fuller's Discovery Blonde Beer 330ml, 4.2% - England

Light golden appearance with a two finger whipped cream head.

A bit nutty aroma, with hints of hops and flowers. Some maltyness is noticeable.

Very light and pale taste. Nuts, some spices, caramel and hops. Although they fade away so quickly. Some honey in the aftertaste.

Slightly dry mouth feel, needs more character.

Hen's Tooth 500ml, 6.5% - England

This beer had a lot of settlement on the bottom. When I opened the cork there was a load carbonation sound.

The beer poured very fast with a huge head, leaving a lot of lacing around the glass.

Floral sweet together with hints of malts and caramel.

A little sense of roasted malts tops with earthly hops, citrus, some grass and fruits. I think there's even some grapefruit I'm getting after half of a glass.

Quite an enjoyable beer, way much better than the Speckled Hen.

Old Speckled Hen 500ml, 5.2% - England

Spicy red color, very little foam.

Malty smell together with some sweetness.

Nothing special at all here. Light taste consistent of malts, hops, with a gentle caramel after taste.

I've tried this beer many times before, but decided to review it together with Hen's Tooth, which is coming up next.

Mr Sno'balls 330ml, 4.5% - England

From the guys who brought you Ola Dubh:

Just like the bottle says, this has a clean and crispy smell with citrus. Very fresh smell.

Starts of with a refreshing citrus taste and ends with light and floral after taste of hops.

Feels good in the mouth, light and some what creamy. Although I like my winter ales to be stronger, this was nicely balanced!

Ale Nr. 16 330ml, 5.7% - Denmark

I decided to review a Danish beer today, since I've been there this weekend and maybe it's time to take a break from all those Belgian beers I've been drinking. Don't worry, I have around 15-20 English ales and stouts laying around, waiting to be reviewed. Also, a few American ales.

Year 1997 and 2000 this beer was the best beer in Denmark, also it took 3rd place as world's best beer. Interesting!

The bottle I have is obviously from the local factory and meant to be sold in Denmark, not for export. The glass is weathered and gives it an antique look.

Very dark red color, two finger head with very little lacing.

Smell of hops with a fruity tint.

Bitter taste, hops do their trick, fruity and nutty, although almost no after taste at all. Reminds me of a light, English ale.

This is not winner for me, although quite an ok and drinkable ale.

I have another beer from the same brewery (Bryggeriet Refsvindinge ApS), which is called "Mors Stout". Will be reviewing it later.
